BJD leader Ananta Narayan Jena re-elected as mayor of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Friday. Ananta Narayan Jena re-elected unopposed as BMC mayor.
Jena is the first citizen of the city for the second consecutive term as Chief Minister and BJD boss Naveen Patnaik selected him to be the new Mayor of the city. BJD boss’s announcement ended last few days speculation over choice of a new face to head the corporation after after the regional outfit swept the BMC polls.
Latter in the day Mr. Jena is expected to be formally elected as city’s mayor. Several people and the corporators had gathered near Naveen Nivas in the morning, waiting eagerly for the announcement.
