According to Parliamentary Affairs Minister Bikram Keshari Arukh, the meeting adopted a resolution thanking the people of the State for reposing faith and confidence on the BJD and showering their blessing to form Government for the fourth time.
The Chief Minister stressed on the need to work unitedly and vigorously to fulfil the expectations of the people. Patnaik advised the Parliamentary Affairs Minister to ensure that the new members are given ample time and scope to participate in different transactions of the House. Besides, in his usual advisory, Patnaik told the members to remain present during the Session and participate in the proceedings and also raise the basic problems of their constituencies for redressal.
Arukh said the party would work to meet the aspirations of people and discuss every issue to be raised by the Opposition for betterment of the State. However, he said that so far no notice for introduction of new bills had reached the Assembly Secretariat. Since only one day has been fixed for official business, there is unlikely that any new bills would be introduced during the Session. The main job of the House this time is to pass a full-fledged Budget for the fiscal 2014-15.
