BJD trains first time MLAs on conduct in Odisha Assembly [Odisha Suntimes]

The Biju Janata Dal Legislature Party (BJDLP) today organised an orientation programme for the first time members of the party in the Odisha Assembly to make them aware about their roles and responsibilities on the floor of the house.
The one-day training camp, inaugurated by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at Pantha Nivas here, was attended by several senior leaders, who imparted training to the 42 first time lawmakers on how to behave in the Assembly and participate in the business, prepare questions and raise issues.
The closed door meeting focused on their conduct in the House which would help them in becoming good Parliamentarians, said Parliamentary Affairs Minister Bikram Arukh after the meeting.
The freshers were advised not to raise issues which could embarrass the party on the floor of the House and outside, sources in the party said.BJD MLAs orientation workshop
The new leaders also maintained that it would be helpful for them while raising various issues in the Assembly. “It is indeed a great initiative to educate the first timers about the Assembly proceedings. It teaches us how to behaveoin the floor of the house and which issues need to be raised,” said Byomakesh Ray, MLA from Chandabali, who has got elected for the first time.
Sources revealed that the MLAs have been asked to prepare a road map for their respective constituencies and become experts in particular subjects.
Since the party has made number of promises to the people prior to the elections, they would be advised to toil hard for implementation of the programmes and to keep in touch with the people on how to address their basic problems locally, sources said.
